The Value4Her Initiative is a key program by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA)
designed to empower women-led agribusinesses throughout Africa, including Kenya. This
initiative aims to improve market access, enhance financial inclusion, and develop business skills
for women entrepreneurs in the agricultural field. It offers capacity-building, digital networking,
and financial connections to increase women’s involvement in regional and global agribusiness
value chains, including agrologistics and export systems.

Implementation Status

The initiative is being carried out through the Value4HerConnect digital platform, which acts as a
marketplace and networking center for women agripreneurs. Key activities under this initiative
include:

  • Workshops and training programs focused on business management, export
compliance, and digital marketing to build capacity.
  • Programs that provide access to finance, connecting women-led agribusinesses with
financial institutions to obtain funding for growth and market expansion.
  • Support for trade and market linkages, helping women entrepreneurs reach
international markets through trade fairs, B2B matchmaking, and advocacy for favourable
    policies.
  • Engagement in policy advocacy, collaborating with governments and trade
organizations to foster a supportive environment for women in agribusiness.

Key Findings

  • Increased Market Access: More than 2,500 women-led agribusinesses have gained from
market linkages, connecting them with buyers, exporters, and investors.
  • Digital Transformation: The Value4HerConnect platform has created a centralized
digital space for women to network, access training, and discover trade opportunities.
  • Financial Inclusion: The initiative has enabled funding for women agripreneurs,
enhancing their capacity to grow and compete in both regional and international markets.
  • Capacity Building: Women participants have developed improved business skills, export
knowledge, and financial literacy, equipping them for sustainable growth in the export
    sector.
  • Policy Influence: AGRA has worked alongside regional economic bodies and
policymakers to advocate for gender-inclusive policies in agricultural trade and
    agrologistics.
